AACTEA PresentersNEACTC Director Eddie Crain, Assistant Director Garrett Barnes, Engineering Design and Production Lab Instructor Dan West and Jonesboro High School Seniors Landon Lucena and Johnathan Yarbrough each spoke to attendees during the NEACTC presentation.

The demonstrations included a Haas Benchtop Vertical Mill with Controller and a Raise3D Pro 2 3D printer.  Once the main demonstration ended, the NEACTC team moved the machinery to an alternate location for livestreaming during the day to online conference attendees.

While explaining the technology presented to participants, Johnathan stated, "It's a very fast and very fun thing to do.  I just started it not long ago and I'm really appreciative of the opportunity I've had coming to Jonesboro from Monticello."

"It's one thing to learn how to use these but it's another thing to design something on the CAD software," Landon explained and continued, "If you know how to use the CAD software, you can literally use it on any other machine.  It's just a blast to use."

The annual AACTEA conference was delivered both in-person at the Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative in Pine Bluff and online to virtual attendees.

West noted that NEACTC is one of only two institutions in Arkansas completing such detailed work for NASA and the NASA HUNCH program.  HUNCH is the NASA program to allow select high schools the chance to create hardware that is flown in space on the International Space Station.

NEACTC students have been working with NASA building parts for space flight for over four years.

Johnathan summed it up well by stating, "I'm just really thankful to be a part of the NASA HUNCH."

And, we couldn't agree with you more.
