Tech Center HOSA Students Win at State (2016)

Hot Springs - Northeast Arkansas Career & Tech Center students participated March 10th in HOSA state competition at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

HOSASeven students competed including Gwyna Bond (Bay), Leamonie Crawford & Julia Stevenson (Jonesboro), Jazmyn Walker & Haley Huckabee (Paragould), Krissy Fox (Valley View), and Maddie McLaughlin (Westside).

Medals were awarded based on placement including gold for first, silver for second, while third place contestants received bronze medals.

Gwyna Bond was the gold medalist in the personal care aide event.  Winning silver medals were Krissy Fox in the nursing assistant competition and Julia Stevenson in job seeking skills.  Leamonie Crawford was bronze medalist in the designing health poster competition.

The group further received recognition for their national service project with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.  The group's sponsor, Ms. Sondra Cline, RN, NEACTC health science teacher noted that she was, "Very proud of her class for their fund raising for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.  It is a very worthy cause and I am proud of my students for their efforts."HOSA2a

HOSA, future health professionals organization, was created in 1975.  Its purpose is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Technology Education instructional program.
